As part of our ongoing unemployment tax program, Barnett Associates conducts an extensive audit of the following documents to ensure accuracy:
- Federal 940 (with attached schedule if in more than one state)
- Quarterly State Contribution Reports (summary pages only)
- Tax Rate Notices
- Liens or Assessments
- 1099 – Independent Contractors
- Past Restructures
Our audit process determines whether the correct figures were reported by both the
state and the
client on all official correspondence. If errors are
determined, we will notify the client of any potential underpayments and/or risks with the particular reporting, or pursue (until check is received)
any overpayment or refunds resulting from state errors.
For any potential (or new) clients, Barnett will perform an audit on this information for the past three years; the statute of limitation for correcting
past reporting issues
